i converted file into mpeg with TMPGEnc

hey, there are so many messages here many topics just get left behind...
please be more specific about your problem. TMPEGEnc lets you load preset settings, and you pick what you want (VCD NTSC, VCD PAL, SVCD, etc) and then it will be in the correct format.

So you're saying you have a MPEG and you want to know what it's properties are?
Click on the Tools link to the left and d/load 'MPEG Properties' this will tell you the MPEG's resolution, bitrate and other misc info.
To determine if your MPEG is MPEG1 or MPEG2, I would try to demux it in TMPGenc. If the video file comes up m1v=MPEG1 or m2v=MPEG2 (no need to actually do it, just open in demux). There are other ways put I've found this to the the easiest/fastest
