Hi, I have read that there are software like DVD2one or DVDShrink that copy a DVD9 into a DVD5 ( Imean 4.7 GB DVD).
But also, I would like to know if it is possible to extract de video and do resizing and cropping so I cant convert a 2.33 aspect ratio movie into an 1.78 aspect ratio movie preserving the DVD resolution 720x480.
Is this Posible? Wich software do I need?

tanks for your answer... I keep that in mind.
if I do it this way... woul I lose the original menus and bonus material.?
dou you know if there is a way so I can do all the croppping and resizing changes and keep them into a vob file so I can continue using dvd2one and the DVD9 to DVD5 guide? and not lose the original menus.
am I dreaming if I want to do this?

I want to crop just becouse I like to watch movies in 1.78 aspect ratio, I think that the lose of video in 1.33 aspect ratio is too much, also, I don't like to se movies in 2.33 aspect ratio, so..the best aspect ratio in my opinion is 1.78.
I have a 2.33 movie (terminator2) in resolution 720x480 with black bars in the top and the bottom. Using Virtualdub... In order to eliminate the black bars, firs I need to resize the video to nearly 960x540 and cropping with a window of 720x480 I nearly match the video eliminating the top and bottom bars and losing video in the left and the right. But I don't mind to lose at the left and the right, at the end .. I obtain a video of 720x480 with an aspect ratio of 1.78.
That's why i need resize and crop. I've planning to doit this way, I'am not an expert... Maybe I have planing to achieve this the wrong way.
What you think about this? -
if you really dont like the black bars that much, why don't you just save the trouble and hit the "zoom" button on your dvd player's controller. that will make it full screen for you and cut out the blackbars.

Yes, what you're proposing OUGHT to work. It's just ... icky. And you're losing quality by doing it, because (unless you're relying on the 16x9 anamorphic data) you're trying to upsample the vertical resolution.
1. Get a bigger TV.
2. Watch the pan&scan version of the movie.
You're losing a LOT on the left and right if you're dropping from 2.33 to 1.73! Holy moly.

Hi again
my dvd player have zoom feature of 2x and 4x. The 2x is to close to the image, 4x is even worse. I would need 1x zoom so I can be satisfied, but there are not 1x zoom DVD players, o am I wrong? If I'm wrong where can I find this DVD player? this would be another and better solution ...
I apreciate all your comments... thanks -
also... I have not find a pan&scan version of the movie terminator2 in DVD and any others movies. That's why I want to do this.
