    What's a good program to make mpeg1 file out of a video cd i have. Can I just cut and paste the .dat files ?

    Yeah that would work fine. Since VCD .dat's are just a specific type of mpeg 1 (352*288/240 at 1150kbps and audio at 224kbps)
