  1. I am about to buy a Datavideo DAC-100 for a new system I am building, does anybody know if the video card I install in the system has any effect in the performance of that capture card?, the motherboard will be an Asus A7N8X Deluxe, with an Athlon XP 2400+ processor.

And since we are on the subject of video cards, I am a little fuzzy about the relation between a video card and DV editing software, I have never used that kind of software since I don’t have a digital video camera, but I am not sure if not having the right video card will compromise some features of video editing software

(Maybe the last question was better suited for posting in the video editing forum, but any input will be appreciated)

  2. I have the DAC100 and my MB is the same as what you have. I am using a Radeon 9500 Pro with not problems.

The video card makes very little difference. As long as you get a decent AGP video card that supports DirectX 8 or higher then you are A-OK

Right now the best VIDEO CARDS are made by ATI. Any of the 9000 series of cards would be fine. They all support DirectX 8.1 and some support DirectX 9

The somewhat new ATI RADEON 9200 (128MB DDR 8x AGP with S-Video TV out) is around $100 give or take. It supports DirectX 8.1

    P.S.
I just found the ATI RADEON 9600 for only $169.99 at CompUSA (not a bad price maybe you can do better if you search around). It is similiar to the 9200 above with 128MB DDR 8x AGP S-Video TV out but unlike the 9200 the 9600 supports DirectX 9.0
