  1. Today i burned an episode of the Sopranos (what a show) and i was so unhappy because when i played it the picture was perfect but no sound. I downloaded it in divx and the divx file plays find with sound however the mpg doesnt play with sound on my comp or dvd player. I have had this problem only once before and i didnt really care because it was like a highlight thing so sound didnt matter.

    Can someone please help?

  3. just solved this prob myself

Use Vdub, select direct stream copy under video and full processing mode under aduio and set the audio format to uncompressed pcm then save avi, should only take a couple of mins. Then load the new avi file in tmpgenc and encode it then, it should work fine if you follow the conversion guides on this site

  4. KICK ASS! That worked for me too. I was having trouble with Tmpeg trying to convert divx. Ran the Divx thru Vdub, and voila! Correct number of frames (Tmpeg was previously reporting ~3x actual frames?) and sound. Oh am I ever happy. Thanks a bunch!

A true word. For that the guides are written. Some people use to ignore this fact. But for that the forum was made.

I mean what did you mean when you said "set the audio format to uncompressed pcm" ?

I chose "No Compression-PCM" .. but the projected file size is 2gb ... is that right ? or did I misunderstand your meaning of "Uncompressed PCM" ?

And to top it all of, VirtualDUB is crashing at the end of the "Save Avi" proccess damn... so close ...
Maybe its cuz of the 1.9gb expected size ?

Save it as segmented avi, because the expected filesize may be to large. Well "no compression PCM" gives you quite a large (temporary) file.

Aight.. well.. I d/led the new version of Vdub and that worked in finishing the new avi... its now 1.8gb and the encoding to VCD works just fine When its done I'll have two VCDs 1/2 and 2/2 of the movie ... Thanks for the help ...
