  1. I've been looking for an encoder other than TMPGenc for a faster encode and have seen Cucusoft converter and WINMPG Video Convert and wonder if anyone has used these and what the final product was like.
If anyone has a product that they recommend, I'd like to know more about it.
    Thanks in advance.

I have used TMPGEnc both versions and also found it way to slow and complex, used MainConcept which converted a movie within 3 hrs as was good until it kept on cutting off and freezing video frames, where the audio just keeps on going and you look at a still image....

Aare AVI to VCD SVCD DVD Converter works so good and did a better job than MainConcepts in speed and completed the file correctly with a very good VCD picture almost near SVCD quality. The other ones you have mention WinMPEG (just dubs movies to different forms with the same regions only) Cucusoft, AVSMedia, Zealot all make pretty much the same type of AVI converters also kinda buggy, I didn't like them... I actually had a similar problem, where I demuxed a VOB into the M2V and AC3 files and used Mainconcept to reencode the M2V. At about 2/3 of the encoding it jsut kept using a still frame. Then I imported the VOB direclty into Mainconcept and the encoding went fine. I mainly use Mainconcept to re-encode PAL to NTSC and have had very good success. This encoder is less complicated than Tmpgenc and got about the same feature set.

I also tried the encoder from Cucusoft and did not like it.
Listen to me now and believe me later
