  1. is there a way to burn a dvd-r to another dvd-r without having to go through the entire process of ripping etc? just wondering if one could burn from dvd-rom to dvd-rw drive like a cd burner for already burned discs...

  2. Oh sure! if it's not protected. Use Nero Express to burn it as from disc to disc.

  3. you don't really need to "rip".... you can just use windows explorer and copy the VIDEO_TS folder from the DVD-R over to your hdd. you can burn that w/ nero express on a new DVD-R.

you can do 1:1 copies, but there's a chance of buffer underruns if your DVD-ROM can't read DVD-Rs fast enough and you burn your new DVD-R pretty fast (i.e. 2X - 4X)

  4. Can I burn to an image first just to make sure i don't get an underrun?

But if I do that then I can just rip and burn, probably take just as much time

  5. don't need to rip or create an image...

just use windows explorer and copy your VIDEO_TS over to your hdd. there's no point in using a ripping proggie (i.e. smartripper or dvddecryptor) as the DVD-R is NOT encrypted.
