    Hi,

I've got the most strange problem in Nero. I have 2 VCD (non-compliant) files created from TMPGEnc, one from DVD Rip (File A) and one from SVCD conversion (File B).

The problem is when I come to burn in Nero, one fits on the disc and one doesn't.

File A is 828,640,792 bytes, and Nero fits that on one CD, File B is 822,630,404 BUT Nero says it won't fit on the CD. Both are compliant in terms of Pixel size, audio is lowered in both to 128k, and bitrate is well under 1150K in both. Both are 25fps PAL.

What the hell is going on?

i suspect you may have activated overburn for the first disk (risky) but not for the second one, using overburn is risky as it could damage your drive if you push the overburn limit to far personally i never use it and with files of that size i would split them to 2 disks

not in this case...the first file is 790.25 MB, which is well within the limit for one CD-R...i've personally fit upto 795.61 MB on a CD-R w/o overburning.

assuming Jukka is using nero's VCD template and burning in mode 2, i have a guess to the problem.

Jukka, for first file (A), were you able to burn it as a standard, compliant VCD??? did you leave that box checked?? i'm guessing you did, and nero burned it as standard, compliant.

i bet for second file (B), you either unchecked that standard, compliant box and/or nero asked you to turn off standard, compliance before you could burn it.

i've noticed that if you burn .mpg as non-standard, compliant (in nero, at least), you won't get the benefit of being able to fit 800 MB on the CD-R.

Nope none of that is the problem, I used exactly the same settings for both.

The only thing that is different about the two files apart from the source (A is a DVD Rip and B is from SVCD) is that A was encoded using TMPGEnc v2.58.44 and B using v2.520.54 could this affect it??

    Thanks for your help
