I picked up a TDK 440N +/- R/RW with hte Roxio 6 software. I also have a standalone Kenwood DV-605 player. I am able to burn DVD movies using several different brands of DVD+RW media, and play them on the TDK drive just fine.

However, when I attempt to play them on the Kenwood DV-605, the first chapter of any movie is skipped. This has the effect of not playing the intro movie and being unable to see the menu.

To add to the confusion, a friend burnt some video onto a DVD for me using a Pacific Digital (NEC) +R/+RW drive using the Roxio 6 software and it plays just fine on my Kenwood, including into, menus, etc.

Any ideas as to what to do next? I have upgraded my PC's hard drive, upgraded to Win XP, and am about to take the drive to exhange for another.

    Thanks,
    Jake

try different media. Some players can read certain brands better than others, so pick up single discs of a few different brands and see what happens. It doesn't sound like its your drive as it plays ok on one player, but not the other...I use TDK DVD-R's, and I've heard their DVD+R's are just as good if not better, so try to pick up 1 or 2 of them and see what happens. Good luck with this, hope it all works out for you.

Thanks for the tip. I have tried TDK+RW, Fuji+RW and Memorex+RW (my friend had given me a Memorex +RW disc). Of those, they have all done the same thing.

    Thanks,
    Jake
