  1. I mean really... Why, for the life of me, is this not working?

I have a handfull of BIN/Cue pairs that I would really like to burn. Some are VCD and some are SVCD.

I've tried using toast to burn them, in Disc Image, Multitrack CD-ROM, and as VCD. Which return either coasters, or the error message "No MPEGAV file/folder found"...

I've tried MissingMedia burner and found it spit out my external HDD, and my blank CD.... as well as ejecting any mounted IMG files.

I've tried that FirestarterFX program and found that it doesn't work with beans.

Is this really -that- difficult? I really hate to say it, but burning BIN/CUEs on my PC was a lot easier....

Could someone possibly guide me through this?

    Thanks,

    Flip

I've never had a single problem burning a bin/cue file. What burner are you using??

I beg to differ. Both platforms have super easy burners for the media. MissingMediaBUrner has burned every bin/cue file I've thrown at it no problem. Perhaps your burner isn't supported. Did you attempt a burn using all the available drive selections in the program??

    2. is it internal or external?
    3. what OS are you in?

burning these files is super easy, I can set it up in about 10 seconds and get the burn done in under 4 per disk

    more info please

  4. Well.... Running OS 10.2.6...

    Using a factory installed Pioneer DVD-RW, DVR-104...

  5. Ah ya...the Pioneer 104...Rumor says it will work with Firestarter set to use generic MMC driver and set to force burning. Worth a try. The 103 and 104 offically not supported in Missing Media burner. Toast, iDVD and DVD Sudio Pro are your apps.(I don't think the last two burn bin/cue files) Toast if you have the lastest version should work. (5.2.x?) I can get Toast to burn bin /cues by double clicking on the bin file which opens it in toast but the cd in and click on burn. Do not mount the file before burning. However you can often mount a bin/cue using toast then play useing MacVCDX Also possible to mount then extract the mpg file using VCD GearX. best of luck.

True it will burn, but the problem is that MOST SVCD compliant dvd's dont like this burnign method. In fact, i can only think of one that does

APEX 1100W and even then its a hit or miss (usually a jerkey/pixelated/freexing playback at the end of the disk)

Unfortunately, having a superdirve is a drawback when wanting to use MMB or Firestarter to burn SVCDs

I got MMB to at least recognize my superdrive, but when it burns it always freezes up.

thank goodness I also have a combo drive.

  7. Not hard at all...for svcd's all ya need to do is process the bin file through svcd fix (takes all of one sec) (be sure and click an ck mark in both boxes of the svcd fix window). After the svcd fix process, drag into any toast version 5 video cd option window and burn...this worx 100% of the time as long as the bin file was authored correctly by the creator>

You can get GumbyTools with svcd fix here http://gumby.misplacedmac.com/...go ahead and click the link that says "download - offline for now"

..for vcd bins..just drag the bin into toast video cd,,,that should work fine..if not use Gumby VCD jelly to convert to mpg and try burning that in Toast video CD. If ya want to watch bin's on your puter...use VLC (video Lan Clent)and "open file" NOT "open" under file menu

    agreed.

dont use toast for this people. Rather use MMB or FIRESTARTER FX to burn the .bin's

  10. I was only recommending Toast for people with drives that don't work with Missing Media Burner and or Firestarter. Please note I also mentioned how to convert a bin/cue file to mpg in OSX. Missing Media Burner is my favorate burning software. However this doesn't include the buggy version .6 which is currently available. (which has a lot of new features and looks like it will be great in the future) Version .5 is the Best!! and .4 is ok. I agree Toast doesn't burn proper bin/cue disks.

welll if you agree about it that dont suggest it, or if you do suggest it, give the disclaimer that it is NOT the proper way to do things. In addition to the fact that it will NOT work on most dvd players.. the way you spoke about it, was like you have tested the method on an extended number of dvd players, if this toast method works on YOUR dvd player than it isnt equal to ALL dvd players.. people get easily mislead and it could lead to many coasters and hours of headache when they think they are doing something properly.. make sure you know what direction you are leading people in, and that they know it could very well end up in failure because it is NOT in any way shape or form the proper way to do things.
