i followed sefy's guide to rip dvd to vcd's. Im using tmpgenc at the moment, and the outcome mpeg movie is laggy, like its really obvious. When i use dvdx the movie comes out fine.
Both i used PAL setting, i also tried NTSC and NTSCFilm on tmpgenc, but they all come out laggy.
Can any1 help me?
thanks

can you give the some information about the file you're having problems with codec, fps, etc.
yf -
divx 5.05 pro codec, i checked the dvd2avi when converting, and it came up with 20fps, in PAL. The movie is the fast and the furious. But you see it has happened to all the movies that i ripped so far.

There you go it has 20fps which isn't a usual fps. so when you convert to VCD, SVCD, DVD or something it has to go to 23,976 frames at least and the those frame need to be added somehow. And when you do this with your files it will happen that scenes with a lot of action seem to be lagging.
You better use a normal fps setting 23.976, 25 or 29.97 the file will be lager but no more lagging. -
DivX ?? where in my guide are you creating a DivX file ? is that your source or your target ? explain exactly how did DivX get into this

I didn't notice that sefy that wanted dvd->vcd and made something with divx. I never used your guide so i don't know what is in it.
but the problem with the fps stays.. -
Here are my 2 conclusions from this situation:
1 - He has a PAL movie being ripped and he used the "Force Film" feature in DVD2AVI
2 - On top of that he used the "Save AVI" instead of the "Save Project" and that also reduced quality.
What to do ?
Make sure that "Force Film" is DISABLED if the movie is PAL or NTSC, only use it if the movie is NTSC FILM format.
Make Sure that you use "Save Project" and NOT "Save AVI" and I believe all the problems will go away.Email me for faster replies!
