    Hey!
I've got FRAPS 2.9.5 full version... But the problem is that it lags sometimes very much! from 55fps to 10fps!!! WUT!? And it can't be computer specs!!! I play on a resolution in 1280x1024. When I record 1280x720 so it gets to widescreen but it lags! Plzz help me!

  2. It's your computer specs. For each recorded frame the computer has to copy the RGB data from the video card's frame buffer, compress it, and save it to the hard drive. At 1280x800 that's a lot of data and number crunching. And while that is going on the computer is running the game which consumes more CPU.

Try playing at 640x480 or some other small resolution (so there's much less work to do) and you'll see things pick up.

Does FRAPS allow you to switch codecs? You might also try using a lossless codec for the capture, so that it doesn't have to compress the video while it's capturing. I believe two choices for lossless codecs are Lagarith and huffyuv.
If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?

I'm not the person to ask - I've never tried FRAPS. I was basically asking if it did allow you to switch codecs.

  7. Fraps does have its own codec. I would guess that it's designed more for high speed than for high compression. So switching to Lagarith or HuffYUV probably won't help.

    Ah, okay. I wasn't sure.

But is it still compressing while it's capturing?
(okay, okay, I'll shut up, now...)
