  1. Hi - I want to convert a video from xvid of resolution 576*320 to xvcd mpg. I can do this but just wanted to ask is it better to increase the resolution to 720*480 or to decrease to 352*240 (using 1900kbps video bitrate)? I'll be playing this back on a 40" Loewe CRT TV.

    Thanks

With a bitrate of 1900 I would test 352x480(cvd and dvd standard so it should work pretty good).

  3. Why you wanna convert?
I've used weird xvid res to svcd without problems...I just convert with TMPGenc and ignore the warnings on VCDEasy when I go to image...no problems so far...

    do MPEG 2 like this

then use GOLD WAV to convert the audio to WAVE.

now just drag the avi file in here and it takes a while to decompress audio. now when its done put file save as wav.

do you use reselutions, like 480*480, or reselutions like 520*246 and s**t like that. cause if you use weird reselutions, it might work on your player, but not on many. plus if you want to put the movie on a dvd-r/+r you will have to convert the whole movie as those reselutions are not standard to the dvd specs.

  6. Thanks for the replies but i dont want to convert to svcd as my dvd player cant play svcd (header trick doesnt work properly either) - just normal vcd with higher bitrate hence XVCD.

    Thanks
