  1. I noticed that after Divx 5.02 came out, all of my regular players (media player, WMP, Winamp) would get some sort of "error signature" error and close when I tried to play AVIs encoded with that or later. The same thing happens when I try to open something in TMPGEnc to convert it to SVCD, which is my main problem because I can view the AVI in the DiVX 2.1 Player, but that's the only player that will play it. Well, that and VirtualDub. I just didn't wanna have to re-encode all of my hour long avis to another older DiVX codec just so I can convert them into SVCD. Has anyone had this problem and found a fix for it? All the DiVX ones encoded before 5.02 play fine in any player. There must be some problem with the DirectShow or something, like the newer Divx codec is not being used by it. This is an example of the error when trying to play it in media player, "AppName: mplayer2.exe AppVer: 6.4.9.1125 ModName: xvid.dll
    ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 00047d0f"

    Any help would be appreciated.

  2. Yeah it's a directshow prob, but mine's worse!!! I can't play any AVI files in any players except for Divx Player, VDub, and PowerDVD!!! You don't need to revert to go to VCD, you can just frameserve full frames from VDub to TMPGEnc, and it shold work like a charm.

  3. Man, your problem really sucks. Anyway, thanks for the suggestion. I've never done frameserve so I'll try it out, but it sounds logical.
