  1. im new to all this capturing stuff so sorry if this sounds dumb.

I just bought a PCTV Pro. Im trying to convert my vhs tapes onto to my hdd. Im capable of getting the video to show but have no idea how to get audio from my vcr.

I have a VCR and has the yellow, white, red composite outs. I was wondering how would i get audio from my vcr to my card? The back of my tv tuner has no red or white composite ins. Im kinda lost here.

I looked at the specs and it says it doesn't have audio input. You have to connect it directly to your soundcard. You'll need a RCA to mini-jack adapter. They can be purchased at Radio Shack or other electronics stores. It will have a Red and White RCA female input plugs to plug your RCA cords from your VCR into and a mini-jack on the other side. The mini jack looks like the ones on common headphones. You plug the mini-jack into your soundcard's mic/aux jack and configure your capture software and soundcard to capture audio from there.

Nearly all capture cards work this way because there is no sound processor on the card. Most have audio inputs but still have to be connected to the soundcard either internally or using a similar method as I descibed above.

That's it, just ask the salesman for a Stereo RCA to stereo mini-jack adapter.
