  1. Does anyone else have problems shrinking with DVD2ONE?

    I use the default 4472 size and it USUALLY works like a charm. However certain discs I cannot do, it's larger than 4.37 (4.7) GB!

    I tried 4444 -> got 4.46 GB (4,797,968,384)

    This is too big so I tried 4000 -> got 4.42 GB (4,747,884,544)

    Obviously I can keep trying but this trial and error is killing me. Is there a way to work out the size before hand?

    Also, do people use other tools? Can someone recommend something other than DVD2ONE? (I have less control with DVDSHRINK and have found DVD2ONE could shrink things smaller than DVDSHRINK can).

    I'd love to find this out as well... I just wasted 25 minutes backing up "The Ring", only to get a 4.9Gb end result... set to movie only, with the dvd-r size restriction in place.

  4. I use the original version of DVD2one and the file size always comes out within 20MB of a full disk no matter what DVD I'm backing up.

    Are you doing movie only? The original version of DVD2ONE didn't do full disk. I'm trying to do full disk.

    Thx

  6. Just the movie only, I could care less about the menu or any extra's on a backup since I have the original if I want to view the extra's.

  7. i use dvd2one all the time and use full disc mode. i have it set to 4440 and every dvd i tried (including ones 8gigs in size0 come out 4.32 or 4.33 gigs.
    Some films though can only be compressed so far, so if you do need to compress more try removing an audio track you dont need (such as french language) this will help you out a bit and might solve your problem

    that's the weird thing - this is the first movie where it hasn't compressed down to dvdr size... everything else I've thrown at it has worked perfectly.

    although this movie was a pain to rip as well... hmmmm....

    The only time I've encountered this problem with DVD2ONE is when the vob files are not in 1GB sizes,obviously the last file will not be. But when other vob's are not 1GB I've had this prblem. For example if you stream rip with Smartripper all the vob's will be odd sizes,none will be 1GB.

    I had this problem with ET. Just lower the number from 4472 to 4300 or something, and it should work.
    I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.
