  1. i have an AVI file dat i wuld like to make it into a MPEG...but first off...i can't view a lot of it...when i tried to check w/ VDub it saids something like

"AVI:Index Not Found or damaged -- reconstructing via file scan"
"AVI:Invalid Chunk detected at 10185426. Enabling aggressive recovery mode."

Then the AVI file would only open the first 2-3 minutes which is the good portion of it...

    can some1 help?

you have an incomplete file and part of it is corrupted.
open in vdub. let it recuild index. the go to video on the menu and have it scan for bad frames after it is complete the save the file as avi but you must use direct stream copy for audio AND video. the new saved avi will now have an idex and be error free and you can do what you want with it.
