  1. My DVD recorder works fine for recording TV programs but I can't record DVD to DVD because of Macrovision and other copyright stuff. I tried routing the picture through a Video stabalizer and later on through a TV sender/receiver but none seemed to work. Is there some way I can copy DVD's for myself bypassing Macrovision and other such stuff? I haerd that there may be cracks available to use with the Recorder that rewrites the BIOS programming? Is it true? Also I saw on the net, a site called DVnation that sells a device called GOldbox that helps copy DVD's. Is it legitamate?
    Please help.

Try the AV Tools AVT-8710 Time Base Corrector. This device is a TBC and also has built in brightness, contrast, color, tint & sharpness controls. It also bypasses the copy protection on videos and allows you to copy them on the Panasonic DMR-E30. You can purchase this unit from http://www.avtoolbox.com and it retails for $179 plus shipping. Please note that copying copyrighted materials is prohibited unless you own the materials being copied and it's for your own personal use.

  3. Why not just buy a no macrovision dvd player? There are plenty of them on the net for sale under a hundred bucks.

Before installing a DVD burner on my computer, I was using a hacked Apex 1100W: The video is an excellent copy - yes, both MV and CGMS are circumvented. I did buy a "card" for my JVC, but haven't used it yet - saving it for when the Apex craps out.

  6. I've been using a hacked Apex 5131....region free and macro off, still would get the "cannot record" window until I incorperated the Video Magic II. The 8710 will work perfectly as well but since I already had a Sima CC with all the bells and whistles I bought the cheaper VMII.

Duplicator, does the Video Magic II work if you are sourcing it using a DVD player that does not have MV copy protection turned off?

  8. Yes, but remember I have a Sima Color Corrector inline as well. If you don't have the Sima you must get the Ultra unit that runs 159 http://www.stardevelopment.com/videoultra.htm
