  3. Hmm, sounds like the Panasonic e30 & e50, which are already out (I don't know about their pal options). The jvc does dvd-r not dvd+r...

  4. I'm suprised that JVC has embrassed the multi (-r ram) format. Perhaps there is more momentum as it relates to dvd-ram than I anticipated.

  5. It looks like it may be the bandwidth that dvd-ram provides.

"JVC's enthusiasm for superior picture quality is also reflected in the recording performance. Making use of DVD-RAM flexibility, JVC designed the DR-M1 to record images in four different horizontal resolutions--more than 500 lines, 400 lines, 340 lines and 250 lines--according to the length of recording time, while conventional players allow only two--more than 500 lines or 250 lines. With the DR-M1, resolution of recorded images is not lowered abruptly at longer recording."

Not too sure but I'm not an expert.

This machine honestly sounds like a DVD version of the HRS9800U SVHS recorder/player/editor. Very nice.
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.

  7. This is DVD-Ram in action:

"Live Memory permits the simultaneous recording and playback, letting you play scenes you missed without stopping current recording or waiting until the end. It is especially convenient when you have to leave your room during a programme."

Its the bandwidth of the DVD-Ram format that allows this to be a feature. Dvd-Ram allows this when recording to a disc in the tray. DVD-+RW cannot.

I get it. Let's see what happens over the next 12 months or so as it relates to technology. I do not feel DVD-Ram is a dead format.

I personally like dvd-ram primarily for the time slip feature. Once you get use to it, it's hard to give it up.

I feel with just a little more dvd recorder support the public will understand and enjoy the benefits of dvd-ram.
