Hi everybody, I'm entirely new to the world of DVD ripping/authoring and have encountered my first problem. I was hoping somebody could point me in the right direction so maybe I can get this solved. My issue is this:

I have acquired a copy of gladiator that will play in power-dvd but will not play in my sony stand-alone or in my modded xbox. I can get it to play occasionally in my apex 5131 if I hit the play button and press the menu button at just the right instance to get the menu to come up, but this is spotty at best and cannot be duplicated all the time.

I'm thinking that the menu system on the dvd is somehow choking up my standalone players, as it's fully interactive and has several sub-menus (sub-titles, language selection, scene selection) and is a nice piece of work. What I was wondering is how do I get rid of this menu setup and re-author the .vob files to have plain chapter points. (if this is whats needed to get it to play) I've burned 10 discs prior to this using the NERO UDF method and have had success in all ten tries prior to this, so Im relatively sure it isn't the burn thats causing the problems with the playback as it will play back in the PC and occasionally in the apex.

    My question is:

Should I attempt to re-author the vob files to see if this will fix the problem?

How do I strip out the menu from the vob files during re-authoring?

My apologies if this question has been asked/answered before, but Im really at a loss as to where I should start searching in resolving this problem. I've searched for re-author .vob files but I dont completely understand yet if this will also strip out the menu system. If somebody could point me to a guide I may have overlooked I would be most grateful. I've done quite a bit of svcd authoring, but having just gotten my first DVD burner Im entirely new to the realm of .ifo .vob files and DVD authoring. Im eager to learn and appreciate any input or assistance you can give me.

    Thanks again.

  2. Sounds like bad commercial media. Take it back and get a refund.
