  1. I get so confused with all these settings in programs like virtualdub and tmpgenc. I have a file in .mpg format which I am trying to burn to CD. It is 352x288 in size and runs at 25.000fps.

I've been trying to use TMPGEnc for the time being. My first problem is with the wizard. Which option am I to select? I see the VCD PAL has a res of 352x288, but I'd like the quality to remain pretty good, so I'd like it to be SVCD. But SVCD only has res's of 480x480 and 480x576. Which option is it that I should pick?

My second problem is with the black bars that appear at the tops and bottoms of the movie. I'd like to get rid of them if at all possible. ATM they appear if I play the file on my computer, or if I play it on my TV. I tried cropping them with TMPGEnc, but they still appear in the output'd file. I assume I'm just making some sort of mistake.

    - Thanks for all your help.

PS If it's easier or better to use VirtualDub or some other program I'm open to changing.

    Video:
    max 2600 kbit/sec MPEG-2 (Audio + Video bitrate max bitrate is 2778 kbit/s).
    480 x 576 pixels (CVD 352x576)
    25 frames/second
Okay, these are your numbers for the video you need if you want SVCD PAL. So select SVCD PAL on screen 1/5. On screen 2/5, load your video and audio files. To get rid of the black bars at the top and bottom, go to aspect ration and select 4:3 623 lin PAL. Skip screen 3/5.

On screen 4/5, see if the media box contains the typr of disk you will write the video. Then see if the Make file size % of disk capacity box is less than 90%. If not, adjust the blue line until it is.

You should be okay to encode the new file on screen 5/5 now. Then just burn to SVCD with your favorite burner.
    Hello.
