  1. I downloaded windows media encoder 9 series, I click "convet a file", then I find the avi file I wish to convert but as soon as I select it the WME program closes, can anyone help me??

  4. As I recall from the few times I used it, Windows Media Encoder is a very complicated fussy program which requires you to set all the settings just right. So you might try going through the help file again to make sure you did everything right. Microsoft has I believe its own forum for Windows Media Encoder, so you might try posting there as well.

    As a quick fix, Microsoft now offers (for free) the codec for WMV 9 to be downloaded and used with Virtualdub. Your end product with this would be an avi file.
