I can't seem to control the subtitles on my ACI Flex 1000b DVD player. On some DVDs I can turn them on or off and it works fine(Evil Dead-picture DVD for example). On other DVDs, the subtitles stay on all the time. I turn them off from the DVD audio options. I also tried the DVD player option to turn them off. They turn off for about a couple of minutes, then they start again. Unfortunately most DVDs are screwy like this. It is rare that I find a DVD that I can turn them off. Is there a firmware upgrade for this player? Also, I can't find a website for these guys(ACI). Any help would be sweet. Thx

First off, information on this player is incredibly rare on the net. You would think there were only a dozen or so of these players in existance.
What I did to fix this problem was to go into the DVD player setup (hit Setup when not playing), and set the subtitles to Chinese. I guess that fixes it because none of the discs I play have chinese subtitles.
Otherwise I see a similar problem. Everytime a new chapter starts the subtitles automatically turn back on.

From what I've seen on the net, the player is made by Raite.
The biggest problem I'm having is discs with protection that prevents them from playing on region-free players. Most players with region mods allow you to turn them off so you can play those types of discs, but I can't find any way to disable it on the 1000B. The annoying part is that I don't even have / need to play any discs outside my region.
