The subtitles (srt file) are coming out wrong on the finished DVD. Every apostrophe appears as three characters; a lower case "a" with a small upside-down V shape over it followed by what looks like a fancy capital "E", followed by the trademark symbol "TM". I can look at the srt file in Notebook and see that these symbols aren't really there. Where is ConvertXtoDVD coming up with this strange combination of characters instead of a ' and how do I fix it?

Maybe the text is in utf-8 so try convert to ansi/iso-8859. Try notepad++, open srt, under encoding choose convert to ansi, save as a new srt.
And this is not any VCD/SVCD issue. Moving you to our subtitle section. -
Thanks for the help. I did as you said using Notebook++. The srt file looks the same. Is there any way to check if it has been changed before converting and burning another disc? Thanks for moving the thread. I realized too late I was in the wrong section.

You don't have to burn. Make an iso and play it in VLC Media Player.
