Have you tweaked your bios settings to try and improve performance? This can often cause memory errors. So can overclocking your CPU.

  5. its weird. if i run in compat mode for win98./me then everythigns fine but it causes some lag on my machine, 2600xp 512 ddr400

thing is this problems apeared from noiwhere. im finding myself doin the mpa with besweet now to ac3 and then multiplexing back with tmpg, but im afraid this might cause ulead movie factory 2 yo play up with the audio sync.

Memory errors can be a pain in the arse. It could be a failing memory stick, to corrupt software. You could always try reinstalling both DVD2AVI, and TMPGenc to be sure those are not the issue. Failing that, you may have to wait until the problem gets bad enough that you can nail it down.

If you already tried reinstalling the software the next thing I would try is the XP system restore feature. Anytime I have ever had system problems creep up "from nowhere" I restore to a date that I know everything on my system worked.

You may have to reinstall progs or re-update some of your software but it has fixed 100% of my probs in the past. Good luck.

Are all projects causing this crash, or only this one? It could be a corrupt source file.
