  1. My goal is to burn mpeg-2 files of captured TV from a TV tuner to single layer DVD's.

I'm using rejig to demux the mpeg-2 and compress the video stream which works great.

How do I then compress the audio stream .mpa? I would like to use as little compression on the video as possible. Surely there's an easy way to do this, but I keep trying to look for .mpa compression and nothing comes up.

You should be able to open it in the latest beta version of Audacity using the ffmpeg libraries, then re-encode using a lower bitrate. However you should expect the file size difference to be relatively small.

  3. After figuring out how to use Audacity, this process worked. It compressed the audio stream which was 850MB down to 350MB. Thanks for the help.
