  1. I'm trying to locate a place or source for images that people have scanned in of the DVD discs. I don't have a scanner but would like to print out some labels.

    Thanks

  4. Those are nice links.

I *do* have a scanner, but often the original disk either doesn't have a cover that scans well or it has a pretty poor cover. I like my labels bright, colorful, and with big lettering that immediately identifies the disk. So I find I'm often creating my own art -- sometimes from laser disk covers, VHS box or DVD artwork (I often own three versions of the same movie; tape, laser disk *and* DVD. Sigh. Hope I don't have to rebuy all the blue laser versions of these :>), and if it's a recent movie there is often web art that can be grabbed from the official site. Plus if I've split the movie into two disks (most common) I need to create disk 1 and 2 labels that can be easily told apart. Actually lots of fun, if you're into artwork and such.

If you are into making your own DVD covers and disc labels, try the evaluation copy of Hypersnap. It's an almost fool proof tool for capturing video images as they are playing, though they recommend pausing before capture. I used it to design some alternatives to the boring STTNG covers for my backups. I don't have the link, but you should be able to find it using yahoo or google to search by name.
