  1. As some of you know I'm knew to this and I have been trying everything to make a go of it.

I'm using a ADVC-100 to capture from my VCR. I have tried many apps with this.

    1. VDUB - Will not work with this device. Sounds like this is everyone's fav around here.
    2. IUVCR For some reason the vide is not capturing very good, it is always choopy.
    3. Adobe premier This is the one that I have had the best luck with. But and this may be the key to my issue, I'm under the understanding that I should be using NTSC for capturing, but it never works. But I can get it to work using PAL, and HUFFYUV2.1.1 CODEC. This seems to record OK, but I'm having issues getting the filtering donw in Premier that I would like.

So I try to load the AVI, file into VDUB, but it will not load it.

So I'm at a loss. If anyone would like to give me some more pointers or information it would be very helpfull. Thanks.

Last time i checked , VirtualDub WILL NOT "capture" DV . It will however work with it once a DV codec is installed.
I believe MainConcepts DV codec is free for import and watermarked for export. Check their website.

Try DVIO ... or ..... Premieres 'capture' utility to import the Dv from the AVDC100.

Did the AVDC come with 'capture' (transfer) software?

I'm under the understanding that I should be using NTSC for capturing

Err no - you use the format your tapes(media) is in.

I try to load the AVI, file into VDUB, but it will not load it.

As before - get a DV codec and install it.

  4. Just curious...

Is your CPU faster than 850mhz PII?

and do you have more than 128mb memory?

Also, have you ran disk defragmenter on your hard drive BEFORE you tried to capture?

The defrag is important in order to create contiguous disk space. This prevents the operating system from having to search for disk spaces as it is trying to also do real time captures.
