I am wondering if the DVD spec officially supports NTSCFILM framerate (23.976) at 352x240. Obviously the MPEG2 would need to have the pulldown flag enabled but I see no reason it shouldn't work. Anyone had any experience with this?
Cheers,

I See no reason it won't be supported, but if you are using that resolution you might as well use VCD settings instead, and just use 48khz instead of 44.1khz

well if its MPEG 1 you cant do pulldown. so it will be only 23.97 fps. some dvd authoring programs will not accept this. and if its MPEG 2 352*240 with Pulldown, well somepeople say that it doesnt work properly. that the video jumps up and down or you get a white screen.

I Don't think there are any problems with MPEG1 and NTSC film, as many people here do that already and report no problems with a DVD Player since it does the coversion itself to 29.976

That's only true with VCDs Sefy. NTSCfilm is not supported with mpeg1 in the DVD standard.
23.976fps is a supported framerate in the VCD standard, it is not supported in the DVD standard. The only way to use ntscfilm on a DVD is to use it internally, in other words include a 3:2 pulldown flag which instructs the dvd player to play the video back at 29.976fps. RFF/TFF flags (pulldown flags) are only supported in mpeg2, not mpeg1 so there is no way to use 23.976fps + mpeg1 on a DVD. -
I see
Well, in that case, thank god I never listen to any of you and I've made all my VCD's as 29.976 and not 23.976 :P
This way i'm all ready to transfer the movies to DVDR media if I ever get a DVD Burner, while you smarties will have to re-encode your VCD movies :PEmail me for faster replies!

As the "Quality" is in your eyes only, i'll be able to have 7 to 8 hours of movies on a single DVDR media while you'll have loads of CDR's laying around :P
Hmmm... i'll be able to put my Entire Season 1 of the Transformers on a DVDR, although it would be rather of a waste since I already own the original DVD's
But! I Could put loads of my Disney Movies on a DVDR and make a nice little menu, that would be coolEmail me for faster replies!
