  1. Hi,

I converted a divx movie to vcd (with tmpgenc) and it turned out around 988mb.. i then cut it with vcdcutter 4.0 and went to burn in nero and it says it's non compliant... is this a result of my cutting it? Am i missing something

I guess what I am saying is: should I cut the divx avi before converting.. or do it to the mpeg after it is converted?

also.. when converting divx.. (most are dvdrips) should I use non-interlaced or interlaced?

    Thx!

Vcdcutter does not produce vcd compliant mpgs. Its still probably the best cutter I've ever seen but after cutting you need to demux and then remux in TMPGenc in order to make it vcd compliant. (file/mpeg tools/simple demultiplex and simple multiplex.

This doesnt happen too much with vcds, most programs dont have trouble exporting a compliant mpg assuming your source was compliant. But vcdcutter does have this problem. The problem is much more widespread with svcds though. If you ever do anything to an mpeg2 file you should always multiplex it in bbmpeg afterward to ensure compliance.

  3. Really.. I didn't know that.. are there cutters that do?

or is it better to cut the avi first then encode each half?

also, should i use interlaced or non-interlaced?

If you can, ALWAYS cut the AVI before encoding. Especially with MPEG2
