I'm talking about original DVD movies not blank DVD's. I am looking for a particular movie on DVD and have not been able to find it to purchase it anywhere I have looked. I'm hoping I can get some ideas from here on what sites/merchants to go to. I do not want download sites. I want online/offline merchants to be able to purchase this.
Thanks

What movie are you looking for? There may be site that caters to that particular genre...
Also, where have you looked so far? I seem to have found that typically, if a movie exists or was ever on DVD, that Amazon or eBay will at least have a listing for it -- although I would assume that you have already tried those places.
I would try also try the Internet Movie Database at www.imdb.com. Type in the title of the movie and search for it (this will also ensure that you are looking for it under the title of the DVD -- some movies that didn't do so well at the box office sometimes got a change of title on the way to the video store). If imdb.com has it archived, they may also have a link to where you can buy it (it seems that they typically do)
Also, I have found that typing a movie's title into a search engine like Google or Yahoo will often produce a few retail hits.
Still, now you've got me curious...what is the movie? -
i live in uk and use www.play.com, but they do region 1 also
1)Why Not Overclock a little?! speed 4 free!!!!
2) If your question has anything to do with copying PS2/PC/XBox games, find a more appropriate website -
I also use www.play.com very good service and very good prices.

How about e-bay?
I even found listings for something as obscure as the little known Disney hit: 'One of our Dinosaurs is Missing'Just what is this reality thing anyway? -
I'm looking for the Crossroads with Steve Vai and Ralph Macchio where they have the guitar duel in it. It came out in 1986, I believe. The only Crossroads I can find is the one with Britney Spears in it and that's not it. So far, I have looked at Amazon, Circuit City and Wal-mart. I didn't know where else to look since I couldn't find it at any of those places.
I have never used Ebay before. -
According to this website, it has never been released on DVD:

(from http://www.fast-rewind.com/ )
Hmmm...imbd (at http://us.imdb.com/Title?0090888 ) has a link to the VHS tape release of Crossroads, available at amazon.com...
So you may have to buy the VHS video and make your own DVD -- thankfully, dvdrhelp.com will be there for you!
Hope this helps
EDIT: Bah! That link to Fast Rewind didn't work. Try this one:
http://www.fast-rewind.com/crossroads.htm
Click "OK" when the pop-up window comes up, then scroll down and click on the link that says "Crossroads on DVD?" -
Thanks everyone. I looked on Amazon but wasn't able to find it. Even though I'm mad because I had $60 of Amazon gift certificates that recently expired I might just have to go with them.
As for DVDRHELP.com, this site has helped me so much. I have learned how to not only make VCD's, SVCD's, VCD's and much more. I am now in the process of learning how to make DVD's. My son is in a band and they will soon need a demo CD so I can help him create one. I don't even remember how I came across this site but am so glad I did. And the people here are fantastic! I don't always post everyday but this is one of the few sites I come to everyday to see if I can learn anything new (and usually do).
I haven't learned to capture yet. That is the next thing I want to do after I get comfortable with the DVD process. -

New from Amazon is $18.00, used is $10.00
And when you're ready to start capturing video and burning to DVD, you can use "Crossroads" as your first attempt! (Unless they finally release it on DVD by then -- which I kinda doubt...) -
I'm sorry for the confusion. I found it through the link you provided. I meant that when I searched for it before I wasn't able to find it. Thank you for your help.
As for the conversion from VHS, can a VHS camcorder do it? That's all I have for now. With the purchase of this new computer I won't be able to afford anything else for a while. -
Nope, a VHS camcorder won't do it. A digital camcorder can, if it has "pass-through" technology...but that might be a little further along in the learning process than you want to tackle just yet...
You might be able to only spend $40 or so for a lower-end capture device, like the Dazzle DVC-80, that will capture video that you can make into a VCD. Something to think about....
PM me (or post in the off-topic section if you want other people's input as well) if you need any help making CDs for your son's band. I've been doing "short-run" CD duplication for local bands for a couple of years now. It's pretty straightforward, and you'll probably have no problems, but feel free to ask if anything crops up... -
I buy from Walmart, but for hard to find movies I goto Suncoast or Amazon.
-
Crossroads...Yet another movie that didn't make it to DVD. I'd like to have that one.
Buy.com has a good price on it.Don't give in to DVD2ONE, that leads to the dark side.
