  2. Can you post a pic of it? That would be helpfull. But if you bought it from Best Buy and there is no name or model on it, it could possibly be Insignia. That's Best Buy's house brand.

Good luck. If you really live in Spain and you bought this on a trip to the USA, you probably wasted your money. Hollywood has convinced almost all of the DVD player manufacturers to stop making models that can easily be made region free. We get posts here all the time from guys who travel to other countries and buy cheap DVD players, only to find that the player is region locked and essentially useless in their home country. We got one of those posts yesterday from a guy from France who bought a DVD player in Hong Kong.

All DVD players can't be made region free. Many have no hacks. Some that used to be able to be made region free have had hardware changes and they can't be made region free now. I would guess that if you bought Best Buy's house brand that it probably can't be hacked.

No I bought it in a supermarket in Malaga in Spain, it was 49 euros.
Best buy has a web site in Spanish with photo of this model.

I hope someone will know the real model number.
If I cannot get it region free then I will give it to someone.

It was not exactly expensive, it said on the box universal dvd player so I thought it meant region free.

I also have an LG RH 188S but I tried the hacks for it and they dont work but other people seem to have managed to get this player to work.

I have large collection of region 1 dvd's going back 15 years ago when dvd first came out, that is why I want to find a dvd player so I can play them.

    Thanks

Yes that's exactly the dvd player.

If I could find a shop in UK that sells a cheap region free and is willing to post it to me in Spain then I would call them and organise. It is just a pity that I have a large collection of region 1 dvd's and cannot play them.

Thanks for your help so far.

You might consider an old Apex DVD player, they were sold in Europe under the Hitecker name.
