  1. I have some very old tape's I wanted to back up and I have a ATI Radeon 32meg and a Dazzle 2. I found that old tape's with the Dazzle 2 have alot more sound pop making the audio out of sync. The ATI AIW use's a Line-in cable. Where the Dazzle take's the sound into the mother board then send's it to the sound card. There is still a problem with ATI AIW with old tape's I live in the USA and every thing I have is NTSC but I do have a world wide VCR made by Samsung. For some reason bad tape's the ATI AIW will bend the picture to the left. so the picture is very bad. The fix I used was tell my samsung vcr to send the picture out as PAL-N and tell the ATI AIW to capture in PAL-N this fix the picture problem. you could still see a little problem with the picture on the PC but on the TV it was cropped off. Also the Dazzle 2 VCD setting there some thing they took out of the MPEG 1 streem that some DVD player's will not play VCD's. I just made some VCD's with my dazzle 2 on my Sony DVD player the VCD's do not work only on my APEX but when capture with ATI AIW they play on the SONY. I would say if your capturing from satellite get Dazzle 2. If you need to back up old tape's ATI AIW but you might run in to a picture problem and will need a world wide VCR to fix it. I going to get a Hauppauge WinTV PVR-350 card and see how that is might be better the the Dazzle 2 and ATI AIW. But what you capture different card's are better at different job's

  2. I experimented with the Dazzle DVC last year for making some VCD's from handycam. I found that its VCD encoding quality was poor when I rendered in Moviestar 5. But they did play in my DVD player(s).
