OK....i'm new here....so any technical talk about hardware and software goes completly over my head. I have a standalone dvd recorder...but am not overly impressed with it...but anyway, i'm looking to buy a computer dvd burner drive, but as there are so many to choose from I was looking for some reccommendations, These are my specifications:
I'M in the UK so it would need to be on the market here
Multi-regional playback (& recording if possible)
Must Be Able to disable the macrovision (as I can on any of my other players)
And be compatible with basic burner programs.
Any help with this would be great!
Thanks!

I would recommend either the dual format sony DRU-510A or the new dual format Pioneer A-06. If you don't need dual format the Pioneer A-05 can be picked up pretty cheap now.

great..thanx....just one thing, does dual format allow you to record on double sided discs or does that means something else

Dual format means that you can record to both DVD-R/RW and DVD+R/RW

Well i've just looked at some prices and i'll think i'll go for the Pioneer A-06. I had a look in the hacks section of this site could find any...is there one to turn off the macrovision and enable multi-region playback?
