Hi,
Several days ago, my Winfast TV2000XP Deluxe card can't be recorgnized by its original driver and application. Now I find the reason and a temporary solving method! Now I present it to the users who met the same problem.
My phenomenon is: once I select windows to search the driver in the original driver directory, windows will always say can't find any driver. If you force to choose the driver, windows will say can't verify its compatibility and ask me whether to continue. If choose yes, the driver can successfully be installed while the Winfast PVR will stop working and present error 'can't find driver....'.
Reason:
The manufactury information(Subsystem ID) in the EEPROM has been modified by unknown reason, maybe caused by chip bug, maybe by software bug. The driver(windows) and application have checkpoints to ensure they are installed only with winfast TV card. You can ensure this using DScaler: start DScaler and select Bt Card|Hardware Info, if the Auto Detect ID is not 6606107D, then you met the same problem with me!
Solving methods:
1. the best method is to find a way to modify the data in EEPROM to its original state. But sorry I don't know how to do this. I know there are some EEPROM tools in Bt878a SDK CDROM but I don't have that. If you happen to have, you can try if the tools can work with the EEPROM.
2. modify the application to force it works.
First you should force the windows to install the driver. That means don't let windows search the driver but choose the driver to install. Then windows will say can't verify its compatibility, select yes to install. After install you will find four drivers in device control as before. Now the driver can be used by third-party programs like WinDVR3.
Second if you want to use the original program( I like the original FM program ). You have to modify the program to jump its verity. I made a little program to do this job. If you want it you can give me a mail djy_1st@yahoo.com. I'll send it to your mailbox. Sorry I don't have space in the internet.
I have to point out that this method runs good in my computer(WinXP), and it's not guarantee to work in other computers. Also you have to risk your own danger^_^!
God bless us!
