  1. I have made a wav file from an AC3 file, now i would like to encode it to vcd compliant audio stream. Whats the best encoder to use because i have heard Tmpgenc doesn't produce good quality sound.

    Cheers.

Use ssrc as sampling frequency (48 to 44,1 kHZ) converter and tooLAME as MPEG-1 Layer-2 encoder. Use the TMPG GUI, options > enviromental settings. VCD requires MPEG-1 Audio Layer-2 44,1 kHz 224 kbps.

  3. I would use tooLame, but as an aside most DVD players will read/play a 48k audio source from an x(S)VCD. You might want to make a small test file first to be safe thou.

You can save a LOT of time by not downmixing your audio from 48k -> 44.1k.
