Firstly im using a Gigabyte GA-7VAX motherboard with onboard 6 channel sound, coupled with the Geforce 2 Personal cinema for tv capture.
The problem is im getting ok sound quality playing tv on the monitor but at capture its lousey and im capturing at 224 kbit/sec bit rate.
I've updated the audio driver but still the same problem, the right speaker is very quiet ,most of the sound is from the left speaker but still distorted on capture play back. the speakers are ok when i play a music CD.
On live TV the sound only comes from the left speaker but the quality
is ok and on recorded playback it only comes from the right speaker
and is distorted.
Any sugestions ???

Check your connection and settings for your onboard sound. You should be using line in to record TV sound. If everything is correct, then I would not use the onboard sound and get a good sound card. I've tried before to use onboard sound, never could get it to work.

Great i managed to improve the sound with some tweaking, the only problem now is it won't record live TV in Stereo, it plays in stereo but as soon as you've hit record it reverts to mono.
I've ran out of button to tinker with to correct this can you suggest anything??
Oh im using intervideos DVDR program to record
