I have a DivX avi. I removed 20bad frames using VDub mp3-freeze. I then extracted the audio using VDub.

I then used TMPGEnc to convert the avi and wav files to 2 x mpg files. Watching and listening to the resulting mpgs sound fine on the PC. I then use Nero to burn onto a VCD and then on the resulting VCD the audio from the home cinema is awful. It is dull, very bassy and can't make out any of the words.

    Any ideas anyone?

    So:
    • DivX sounds fine.
      Extracted wav sounds fine.
      TMPGEnc encoded mpeg sounds fine.
      Nero authored VCD sounds awful.
Source of the problem could be in many places:
    • Nero does something to the mpeg during authoring - Use VCDEasy 1.1.4 to author.
The mpeg is not fully VCD compliant - reencode to VCD specs.
Your stand alone doesn't handle VCD properly - buy a player that does.
