playback freezes / breaks up half way through disk

i have copied a number of films using dvd xcopy express with an asus drw-0402p and playing back on a panasonic scht-80 burnt onto datawrite classic yellow 1x and red 4x disks
everything is fine until approx 30 - 40 mins into the film then it just starts breaking up and freezing but if i play the disk again later it can play fine where it didn't before
i've tried the forum search but nothing that really relates to my setup

can anyone help cause it's getting quite annoying when you can only watch half a film

How about trying this...

Burn that same DVD (from the files or image you have in your HD and not duplicate your existing problematic DVD to another) to another DVD blank or RW and see if the issue occurs.

You need to burn another DVD using the files you have stored in your Hard Drive or the image that you used to create the problematic DVD because if you try to grab the video files or an image off of the problematic DVD, you are introducing another problem variable which is whether the image or video was extracted without problem from your problematic DVD. ... HMM... hope that makes sense.

This will help you eliminate whether your issue is media related or not.
