  1. I just installed the DVD2SVCD package, and the CinemaCraft Encoder 2.5

    I'm using this guide...
    http://doom9.org/mpg/dvd2svcd.htm

    1. The aspect ratio of my DVD is 2.35:1
    Should i set the Source Aspect Ratio to 4:3 or 16:9 ?

    2. I made a small sample and there was a CinemaCraft Logo embedded in the picture.
    I assume this is because i have the trial version, but i can't figure out where to enter my registration info ??

    3. Can someone please explain the 'Bitrate' tab?
    I don't understand what i'm supposed to do there.

    thanks in advance

  2. you should set it to 16:9. dvds that are 2.35:1 have a 16:9 dar mpg with slight letterboxing, so when fullscreen, you get the full 2.35:1.

    i don't think there's anyplace to enter registration info in the trial. if you actually bought it, you should give cinemacraft a shout. or, there are certain spaniards who could help you out.

    bitrate controls the quality of your picture, it determines how many kilobits of data you will allocate per second of movie. when making an svcd, the video can have a max of 2600kbps, and the video and audio together can be max 2724 or something like that.

  3. 1. Use 16:9, when you load the IFO it should do this automatically. HOWEVER, many DVDs are miss-coded to 4:3 for some reason.

    2. Yes, you have the trail ver. I've heard that there's a crack to remove the logo

    3. The birtate tab can be confusing. Here's the short answer. Set max to your DVD players max (normally ~2500), leave min alone, set min ave to 0, and max ave to 9999. The min won't go below the set min, and max won't go about the set max. Then choose the size of the MPEG files you want (730 and 790 are the defaults, I enter 795). Then set ALL tabs to the number of discs you want.
    This will make DVD2SVCD automatically choose a bitrate to produce X CDRs of size Y. So you don't have to calculate the bitrate manually.

    Choice B, is to enter the number of discs you want to use based on the movie runtime (0-60min use 1 disc, 60-121min, use 2 discs, etc. etc). This is tricker because you need to be more careful with the min/max aveages.

  4. thanks for the info!

    @Vejita-sama...

    when i loaded my IFO file, it kept setting the aspect ratio to 4:3, Thats why i asked about it

    I'm still trying to figure out the 'Bitrate' settings, but your post has probably saved me from hours of searching/reading

  5. Like I said, a lot of DVD's IFO files are wrong. Play a few secs of the movie to check.

    For more on bitrates read the DVD2SVCD forum at http://www.doom9.org The easist way to go is:

    min=300~900
    max=2400~2500
    min ave=0
    max ave=9999

    Again, the min/max set the actually min/max, and the ave will stay between them. So if you set all choices to the # of discs you want the bitrate will be calculated by DVD2SVCD.

    If you have to use your own bitrate (eg. four 25min TV eps, only want 2/cdr) enter the same value for both min AND max bitrate (or use CBR).
