Hi,
I purchased a sony DRU500AX a couple of months back and i have been using the Datawrite Classic Yellow DVD-R disc's and it was working fine till yesterday.
Since yesterday i have lost 7 disc and the burning fails at 17-19%. i didn't have this problem previously.
The Writer burns fine DVD-RW and DVD+RW discs (both Sony makes) without any problems and i can burn the Datawrite Classic Yellow DVD-R disc's on my laptop with out any problems (which is also a sony writer).
I haven't tried any other makes
Did any body face a similiar problem ? any help would be highly appreciated.
Regards

A topic like "Sony DRU500AX" could draw all sorts of views from people like myself who have the drive, or others who are thinking of buying it (or even from people who love Pioneer and hate Sony) but if no one else has had this problem there's little we could tell you.
If it were me I'd go back to the place I bought it from and try and get them to exchange it, or return it themselves to Sony. If I had bought it mail order (I didn't) I'd contact Sony for an RMA. Either way there's not much else you can do -- obviously there are problems with your drive that need fixing, unless you suspect it's a bad batch of media (in which case it would be worth it to try just another piece of some kind of quality media, like TDK or Verbatim, to make sure the drive is really f'ed up)."Like a knife, he cuts through life, like every day's his last" -- Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
