Is the disk speed a concern for a standalone?![]()
I have a Philips 985 dvd Recorder, which uses DVD+R/+RW discs.
I have successfully recorded on a Maxell DVD+RW.
As for a Dvd +R disk, I tried a Verbatim DatalifePlus which says it burns at 2.4x-And it won't record?
Any help would be great. Thanks.

you should prolly experiment with your particular player.
personally, i've always burnt at lower than max speed just to be sure it's compatible with as many players as possible. -
Well, I've tried burning on another Verbatim disk -but they still don't work a message saying "1 Post Error" keeps coming up along with "Disk Warning" and I can't find anywhere to change recording speeds on this standalone player.

POST usually stands for Power On Self Test. If that's failed, I'd say it was a recorder problem... and it's not going to get better on its own, I'm afraid.
If it's in warranty you might want to get it looked at. If not, it's probably going to need the attention of an engineer armed with a service manual.
