i tried backing up a dvd9 movie to a dvd+r disc using the guide that dvdrhelp.com provides ( https://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/141024.php#dvd9dvd2one ) and after i finish all the steps and i put the dvd+r in the dvd player, it doesnt detect the movie. i also tried putting the disc back in the dvd player on my computer and it doesnt even detect it as a movie or anything! any way to fix this problem??

first i used dvd decrypter to rip the files, then i used dvd2one to make the movie make the movie to fit on a dvd5 disc, i used full movie mode. was i suppose to do that? after that i used copytodvd software then im done.

Make sure you have the full version of dvd2one and not the trial version. In order for that, you must pay for it. The trial version only allows for 10
minutes of compression for to show you that the software works. Copytodvd will allow 14 free copies before it freezes up. Use dvd decrypter, then use dvd2one and then copytodvd, I believe that is the easiest way to do it.In dvd2one, in the "copy mode" use movie only not full disk. -
i have the full versions of dvd2one and copytodvd and i did the movie only and i am still having that same exact problem i did before. i dont know wat is going on, i have the optorite drive. im trying to backup the matrix dvd. any suggestions?

What happens when you try to play the VIDEO_TS folder with a software DVD player? Are you sure your standalone player supports DVD+R discs? What happens when you try to play the DVD+R disc on your PC?

I cant access the dvd disc from my computer. when i double click on the dvd drive, it'll just open it up but doesnt show any files or folders in there. yea my dvd player does support dvd+r disc. i have copied a dvd5 disc to dvd+r and it worked.
umm i just tried putting the dvd in dvd writer and opened up my dvd player software and it works. why does it only work on my computer? -
I would double check your compatibility with your standalone dvd player and dvd+r. Most dvd players will only be compatible with dvd-r and -rw and not +r +rw. other then this i dont know what to suggest.

you wouldn't happen to be using win98SE would you? because it's FAT32 doesn't support files >4 gigs. i was using copytodvd and was running into problems because copytodvd makes an .iso file first, which would always get truncated at 3.99 gigs, which isn't right because DVD is 4.37 gigs.

have you tried using other tools
what i normally do for movie only conversion is that
I use dvd decryptor in file mode to burn the whole dvd on to the harddrive
Then use dvd shrink 2.3 to do the movie only conversion (there is a guide on here) but you may pick it up as you play around with it.
Use recordnow dx to burn
i find this step very simply and have success all the time never made a coaster yet.
Also have you got a AUDIO_TS folder included, sometimes if this isnt included in, the standalone player may be a bit picky.
you can try using my method, all are freeware except for recordnow dx, you can get a trial version from the website (look at te tools section to get a link) and alot of people use this burning software cause it tends to be more stable and successful than others.
