I recently purchased the Sony DW-U12A. After I installed it, I firsted tried a CD which burned great. (nice upgrade from an 8X cd burner)
When I went to burn a DVD (using Nero express) the program would freeze and I'd get nowhere. It would state that it was storing the cache and stop right there. Currently I'm using Windows XP (home edition). In fact, I could only get Nero to shut down by telling it to shut down the computer. Task manager wouldn't end it at all. I reboot and turned off any unnecessary processes, same problem when I tried it. (was attempting to do data backup from my HD)
Then I tried using diskjuggler instead. This time I got an incopatible media message. Now I don't know if it's because of the DVD-R brand I was using, or something else? I was using Accu (4X) that I bought. I even tried using the DVD-R discs that came with the drive and it still didn't help any. I upgraded the firmware to the 2.0c, it still didn't help matters.
Any suggestions as to why this might be happening? Any known problems with the brand I bought? It seems that it's not reading that there are blank DVD-R's when I put then in the drive. Any other information you need from me? (I'm sure there is something I'm missing)
Anything you can tell me would be greatly appreciated.
