    This has probably been posted a few times but here I go again:

    Open the avi video in virtualdub
    Choose Audio->Direct stream copy
    Split the ac3 audio (dolby digital audio) from the video by select file->save wav and save as audio.ac3 (ignore that it says wav)
    Download besplit, and run the beslice.exe tool
    Drag the audio.ac3 on the beslice window and it will create a new fixed ac3 (virtualdub adds wrong headers to the ac3)

    Start tmpgenc and select file mpeg-tools and click multiplex
    Select the mpg you have created with tmpgenc as video
    Select the new besliced audio.ac3 as audio
    Hit start to make a new mpg with ac3 audio

    Get dvd-lab or tmpgenc dvd author, add the new mpg with the ac3 audio and author.

    This assumes that you don't have made any pal to ntsc/ntsc to pal frame conversion when you encoded. You encode the avi to mpg as usual with tmpgenc, you could just convert the video and no audio to speed up it a little bit.

  3. thanks for the fast reply

    Start tmpgenc and select file mpeg-tools and click multiplex
    Select the mpg you have created with tmpgenc as video
    Select the new besliced audio.ac3 as audio
    Hit start to make a new mpg with ac3 audio
    i fisrt have to make the avi to mpeg 2 without the audio and then multi plex after encoding
