    I'm having trouble finding a unit designed solely for the purpose of
    playing back tapes recorded in my Hi-8 camcorder (in order to save
    wear and tear on the camcorder while transfering to digital). Anybody
    got a clue where to look? Thanks.

    ebay search hi8 under electronics; you'll also find at least one vendor there that posts sales from which you can also buy direct if you go to their site
