this might be a newbie question.
i've just started reading up on dvd authoring and understand the following: to rip from an original dvd and author on dvd+r/rw requires re-encoding etc to fit on the smaller home media. what about sound?
does one have to lose DD or dts and settle for stereo sound or can the audio be ripped and preserved bit for bit? what about dts? How about the newer formats like dd and dts 6.1 (?) and 7.1 formats (just curious about the last 2, not really a fan of either)? is it a neccessity to convert dts to DD? what's the most common practice?
Thanks!
