    I have tried in vain to get a decent DV capture via firewire with Adobe Premier 6.5. Tried VirtualDub but it wont work for DV.

    Anyone have a program they can recommend?

    Here's one I use:

    ScenalyserLive. It should be in the tools section under capture. Preview, timer, audio preview. I've never had a problem with it yet. Not free, but worth the relatively low price.

    You don't 'capture' with DV/firewire , you 'transfer' the data.

    If you are not getting decent DV capture then either the source is crappy or you may have premiere set incorrectly. From memory, by default Premiere uses the MS DV codec. Try another DV codec.

    All DV capturing program will give you the same quality. You can try freeware programs such as DVapp or DVIO.
