  1. How do I do this? Is there some software that can grab the audio out of this AVI and save it as an mp3 or wav, or something?

I think it's DivX 5... if that even exists.. it needs the DivX 5.0.3 codec to play is all I really know. There's no programs I have that can tell me what it truly is... either stream.

Sorry if this is really generic, and thanks for any help!

  2. Use a program called g spot to view information about the file, its good. as for ripping the audio out, use virtualdub, both programs are free, run virtualdub, open file, if you want a wave file from the mp3 file, goto audio tab and choose full processing mode, conversion, then set your attributes, or leave as is, depends if you want to change from 41,000 to 48,000 or vice versa, i would choose internal conversion and high quality if your going from one frequency to another with v-dub, but then again, i use besweet to do the re sample as i think it uses anti-alias, which gives a better result, not sure about v-dub, i think i read it dosent use it.

Hope it helps, any other questions give a reply.

I always use Goldwave to extract a wav from avi's, it handles AC3 and MP3 sound. Just load the avi and save.
