ok i converted an svcd from pal to ntsc useing main concept mpeg encoder, all seemed to be going ok, i did notice that the ntsc files where about 10mb larger than the orginal pals, no big deal i thought.
I fired up svcd2dvdmpg+ and started to make my dvd
the end resualt was a 5.49GB dvd i dont understand this
the movie is only 3cds @ 850mb (or so) each
the other thing that i noticed is that svcd2dvdmpg+ took forever to finish over 2hrs
    what did i do wrong??!
i did this btw becuase i wanted to burn this movie off to dvd of course for play back in an ntsc only dvd player
    thanks in advance

  2. It sounds like you chose DVD as the mpg type instead of SVCD. Just use one of the many encode proggies to bring it down to size.

well the output is set as follows
    MPEG TYPE: SVCD
    STREAM TYPE: PROGRAM (VIDEO+AUDIO)
    VIDEO MODE: NTSC
    AUDIO MODE: LAYER 2

shouldnt the layer only be 1 for an svcd
and if it out put as a dvd it shouldnt have
i set it for svcd i tryed it 3 times (1 on each file)

  5. layer 2 is the audio encoding which is indeed layer 2 mp2.

Maybe you can try Elementry Stream that is the setting i always use in tmpgenc. or use tmpgenc to encode.

are you talking about in mainconcept or svcd2dvdmpg+?
cause mainconcept doesnt offer that spacific setting, and when i do that with svcd2dvd
    it makes 3cds @ 2gigs each
also, i tryed useing dvd2one to compress the files and that didnt work
the main thing is why is svcd2dvdmpg+ making these files soo big

  7. i told you i didn't know mainconcepting. So i couldn't have know that option wasn't there. You can't do it in svcd2dvdmpg+ cause it needs finished mpeg-1 or mpeg-2 files.

Why not try to do a little bot in tmpgenc and run it through svcd2dvdmpg+ If it gets much bigger like your files now then i haven't got a clue. If not i think you better use tmpgenc to encode divx -> svcd. See guides section for guides..
